AT Day – Go Ape 2024

On 17th March 2024, a group of cadets from Royal Russell Combined Cadet Force (CCF) attended Go Ape at Chessington World of Adventures for an Adventure Training (AT) day. This day also contributed to a lot of cadets achieving their ACS 1 Star AT Pass.

We arrived at Royal Russell CCF for 1100hrs before heading straight off to Chessington World of Adventures. On arrival we received our safety brief before heading straight off up into the trees! As a group we had to complete a series of 5 courses ranging in difficulty from ‘moderate’ to ‘extreme’! This thrill seeking high ropes course allowed us to reach as high as 10 metres off the floor, swinging in the trees! The various types of crossings pushed us to overcome our fears and understand the importance of boosting team morale in what can sometimes be quite a stressful situation. Special shoutout to Captain Fisher, who despite feeling a little apprehensive, pushed himself to complete all 5 courses including the extreme routes!

After a lot of laughs, obstacles and photo opportunities, we approached the part that we had all been waiting for: The 4 person zip wire which was over 150m long!! After racing each other down the zip wires multiple times we ended the day eating ice creams and taking pictures.

Many thanks to Sergeant Wickes for planning such an exciting AT day along with Captain Quick, Captain Fisher and Sergeant Greenwood for giving up their time to help supervise us!
